About Newcastle Gastroenterology
Newcastle Gastroenterology is the practice of Dr. Magnus Halland, who is an internationally recognised gastroenterologist with subspeciality expertise in esophageal and motility disorders. He returned to Newcastle in 2022 after nearly nine years at Mayo Clinic in the USA where he was a Consultant Physician and Associate Professor of Medicine.
Dr Halland has vast experience with both endoscopic and physiological assessment of luminal gut disorders. In addition to being a full-time clinician Dr. Halland is a recognised educator and researcher with over 50 peer-reviewed publications. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle and teaches medical students on a weekly basis. He is often asked to present both at international and national education physician events.
While originally from Norway, Magnus moved to Newcastle in 2000 to attend university and his wife Megan and three children are all Novocastrians. When not at work he enjoys mountain biking with his kids, exploring gravel roads for endurance biking and relaxing by a pool or beach afterwards.
Newcastle Gastroenterology is located in Charlestown (Newcastle), NSW. We are on Level 1 at 3 Hopetoun Street – parking options for visitors in the Charlestown region include at the Charlestown Square, Hilltop Plaza or public streets nearby the practice.
